Do not leave him sitting in front of a laptop. Unless of course you’d like to return and find this…
I love my son…I just hope to redirect his ability to destruct things. Anyone know where to pick up spare keyboard parts really cheap?
Anyone?
Oh, no!! I had a book fall on my laptop once and break a few keys. My husband ordered replacement parts online. It wasn't expensive, but the days that I waited for them to come in the mail dragged on and on!
ReplyDeleteHope you can find replacement parts soon!
ooo booo.. if you find a keyboard let me know if you want us to install it!
ReplyDeleteYikes! That would have probably been the start of a very bad mommy moment for me.
ReplyDeleteDude - bummer! I've had that happen to me before (except unfortunately I couldn't blame it on my kids - I did it all myself!)
ReplyDeleteI had to order an entire new keyboard and install it. I couldn't get the individual keys back on.
Argh! My little guy has popped off a key or two and it's NOT fun to get them back on...but it CAN be done. I just had to put one, along with it's little plastic bracket thingy (is that the technical name for it? :-)) on a few days ago. Hope you get it fixed!
ReplyDeleteThis has happened to us twice! The first time my dh bought a new keyboard for my laptop and installed it. The second time the little girls took ALL of the keys off of his laptop. We just plugged in an old keyboard from the desktop and we use that. :)
ReplyDeleteThis happened to me several years ago!! I just ordered a keyboard from Amazon. I can't remember the price, but it wasn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteOh no! You should be able to pop them back on, but it's a pain in the butt!
ReplyDeleteMy kids took several keys off my keyboard. I was able to put them all back on except the comma, which I ordered for a few dollars.
ReplyDeleteHere is a step-by-step link to fixing any that aren't completely broken: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/03/20/key-fell-off-keyboard/
I can't remember where I bought my comma, but if you want me to look it up, just message me. I now have a policy that I close my computer when I step away from it. Every.time. It gets really old, but they can't go key picking as easily.
Zachary, Zachary! I'm glad you found them before Kaleb ~ cause we know what he does with loose keys!
ReplyDeleteYou know, your kids never cease to entertain me!
ReplyDeleteAh, now there's a little guy that could give my 6yo a run for his money! My computer had a broken clasp and several broken keys due to his handiwork. Some of the keys we were able to pop back on, the arrows actually work without the key, you just touch the space where they belong, and e-bay usually has the parts if you need a new key. Good luck! That is precisely why my little guy is no longer allowed to use my computer! My dh got an old one that was going to be trashed at work for him to use. It's slow, but it keeps him busy most times!
ReplyDeleteOh no!! Wish i could help but i have no idea!
ReplyDeleteWow! I know the feeling though, except that our mishape was a lot more fixable than yours. I left my 3 year old alone to play on Zoodles.com while I went to change the baby's diaper. When I returned, I noticed that the sound sounded incredibly weird. The vocals were very faint and almost sounded robotic, while the insturmentals were extremely loud. I freaked out. I couldn't fix it. It took me 2 1/2 hours to figure out that she hit the karaoke button that I didn't even know existed!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you going this before me so that I can have someone to turn to for direction in the future. :) Hope it's an easy and quick fix!
ReplyDeleteHe must have seen the up cursor arrow key was already missing. I noticed that when we borrowed it a couple of weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteRemember the reaction dad's first computer had to a magnet ;-) His experiments could get worse.
It's vividly apparent that this little guy is going to grow up to be an engineer. They grow through life taking things apart so that when they are big, they can put things together!
ReplyDeleteOh no! My 3 year old boy is the exact same way. It doesn't matter what you give him....it almost always gets destroyed. I felt sorry for the VBS teachers this year. I think he set a record for the number of name tags he had. Anytime they put one on him he ripped it to shreds. :-( If you can find something that works for your boy please let me know! :-)
ReplyDeleteI currently have 2 keys missing thanks to my 3 year old-I just use the keyboard without those "keys" (I can still press the button to make them work) LOL
ReplyDeleteMy son did this to my lap top at age 3. My husband was able to put most of it back together except we never found the letter B key we went two years without that key until we replaced the lap top. Good luck repairing the key board.
ReplyDeleteOh no! You should be able to pop them back on, but it's a pain in the butt!
