You Know You’re Getting Old{er}

When you can’t even remember how old you really are, either you are getting forgetful ~ or you just don’t really care.

Truthfully, I don’t really care. Sadly, I also can’t remember.

Someone asked me the other day how old I would be on my next birthday. I had to stop and think…and think…while quickly doing the math in my head. While I will freely admit how old I am {37 thank.you.very.much} it would appear that I prefer not to tell others because of my hesitation in answering.

I’m really not ashamed of my age. I’m just getting old{er} and can’t remember.

{sigh}

Just pass me a piece of my birthday cake and help me forget it all, ok?

  1. I know what you are saying!

    When someone asks my husband how old he is, he looks to me for the answer. That leaves me to do the math..thanks, hun!

  2. It's ok, I'm 23 and I do the same thing. I'm more used to answering the question about my daughter anyway. Also mine is a combination of the two, I forget and I don't care.

  3. Im in the same boat - hard to remember my age - I think because the years are passing alot faster now than they used to (which in itself is another sign of getting older!) Sad thing is I know Im 43, but I dont even rememeber being 42 - I think I just skipped that year. Maybe Ive claimed 43 for 2 yrs now?? LOL
    So was today your birthday? (If so, Happy Bday!!!)

  4. I would proudly tell you my age too, but I can't remember. All I know for sure is that I'm not 37 anymore.

  6. LOL! I know what you mean. Conveniently, I was born in 1970 so it makes the subtraction easy. Unfortunately I spend most of the year thinking I'm a year older than I am because my birthday is in November!

  8. Hah! I teased my husband so much in the years before he turned 40, that he completely lost track of how old he was. The year he actually DID turn 40, he thought he was turning 41!

  10. I'll be 40 in August and my mind thinks it's 25. I am just grateful to know all I know now that I didn't when I was 25. Jenn

  11. Funny! I thought I was the only one who couldn't remember how old I was. Every time someone asks me I have to count. I will be... hang on let me think... 35 soon. And it's not that I realllllyyy care - it's just that it would be nice to be a little closer to 30 and not half way to 40. *sigh* Oh well.
    Loved your post :)

  12. I have to rehearse my age in my mind, quietly to myself, so that I will remember it... but I have NO PROBLEM with using the excuse of "never ask a woman her age"....!
