Losing My Mind...

Shockingly, this post has nothing to do with any of my children. They weren't even nearby when I felt like I might lose it.

How odd is that?

I went out by myself to run some errands yesterday, had finished up at one store and walked out in the parking lot and promptly panicked. Seriously panicked. I was looking right at the row where I had pulled in and parked ~ and my van wasn't there.

I stood on the sidewalk and literally felt sick to my stomach. I knew I hadn't locked up, so my mind began racing as I thought about the call I was going to have to make to my husband to explain how our van had gone missing in the twenty minutes I was in the store.

I pulled out my phone and started dialing....and realized a few seconds later that our van wasn't missing after all. I was staring at our CAR. The van was sitting at home in our driveway, right where I left it.

Duh.

I'm convinced that this somehow all ties into our children though....

  1. LOL!! I really can relate to this! I've done this a few times as well, depending on whether I use our huge van, my husband's truck, or even my parents' minivan. Where is it??? It only happens when I'm alone. If the children are with me, they've located the van with their telescopic vision 1.5 seconds after we walk out the door, "Yep, there it is!" :-)

  2. I laughed out loud at at this one! In this situation it is actually (surprisingly!) helpful to have a child or two with you!

  5. Oh, you're cracking me up! And ya, it ties to the kids, if it weren't for them, we might still have enough braincells left to actually remember back more than 2 minutes ago!

  7. Oh Boy have I done that before! That's a very panicky, sick feeling. ANd you're right...the kids probably have something to do with it. :)

  11. ROFL!!!! I must say, I've done that before also. And, I blame it on the kids. It's their fault we are losing our minds. They suck it out of us. Placenta brain is what I call it.

  12. Of course it relates to your children! If you had none, you would still have all of your brain cells. :-) I have been there, done that. And I'm pretty sure I will do it again! LOL

  13. My Aunt did this and even went as far as calling the police. She found it in the parking lot on the other side of the store.

My mom went into the library with the kids and went to leave and couldn't find her keys. Looked all over the library than went to her car to find it unlocked and running.

  16. If it turns out not to be the kids' fault, then for sure it's your husband's...
