Over the last few months I’ve been busy reading whenever I have a spare moment, actually reading a few of the books on my list but completely going off on a tangent for the most part. Overall, I’m pretty happy with what I was able to read, even though I missed a few that I had wanted to finish up.
My favorite book? I really enjoyed the first book I read by Philip Gulley {literally made me laugh out loud} and I am looking forward to reading more from him. I am SO glad that I got around to reading the first two books in the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers. I cried when finishing up the second one yesterday!
If you are a young mom {or even a seasoned one!} pick up the book Blue Like Playdough by Tricia Goyer. That book had some wonderful little nuggets in it {link to the full review is below}.
I’ve included the list of the books that I actually DID finish. If you are interested in seeing my original list {with a ridiculous amount of books to read} you can see that here. The titles below link up to the reviews/posts that I did on some of the books {in case you want to know more about the book}.
Finished non-fiction list:
- Blue Like Playdough by Tricia Goyer
- 25 Days, 26 Ways by Ace Collins
- Home to Harmony by Philip Gulley
- Dawn’s Prelude by Tracie Peterson
- The Carousel Painter by Judith Miller
- Farraday Road by Ace Collins
- Swope’s Ridge by Ace Collins
- Watch Over Me by Christa Parrish
- A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers
- An Echo in the Darkness by Francine Rivers
- The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis {read with the kids}
- Beautiful in God’s Eyes ~ Elizabeth George {1/4 finished}
- Closer: Devotions to Draw Couples Together ~ Jim and Cathy Burns {a few weeks into a 52 week study}
- The Heart of Anger ~ Lou Priolo {1/4 finished}
Great job! You finished up a lot more books than I did! I am in such a reading funk.. hopefully it will pass soon!
ReplyDeleteMy sister read The Mark of the Lion series years ago (and had reread them as well) and still talks about how great they are. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWonderful job on your challenge! Some of the books you listed are on my TBR list, I need to find another challenge now...though I haven't posted my wrap-up results yet.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Hey...u did well for the challenge...!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Jolanthe! I agree that Blue Like Playdough has some really great takeaways throughout.
ReplyDeleteAnd I've never read anything by Ace Collins, but after reading your reviews, I'm highly tempted -- anything that's hard to put down scores points in my book!
Hi Jolanthe!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog through Callapidder Days' reading challenge wrap up (I finally linked my post yesterday :-/) and was excited to see that you read the Mark of the Lion series and liked it. My friend lent me his books and I couldn't get past the first 3 pages because of a crying/teething baby, so I'm encouraged to pick it up again! I won Closer through the CD giveaway, so I am excited about that one, as well as Blue Like Playdough! Thanks for the info!
