Why is it that a child can be sitting no less than 5 feet away and you call his name repeatedly and do not get the slightest acknowledgment to your calling. To the point that you wonder if his hearing should be checked up.
Yet mere hours later, the same child is wholly focused on a LOUD tv show, clear across the house from you ~ and somehow manages to hear you and your husband whisper about the contraband cheese puffs that were hidden in the closet.
And the cries of "Cheesies?????? CHEESIES? Do you have cheesies?" can be heard by all who live on your street....
That is because they have selective hearing. Next time you are trying to get their attention and they are not cooperating simply say the word "chocolate" or "cheesies" and they will hear you immediately! lol
ReplyDeleteLOL, I have wondered the very same thing!
ReplyDeleteThat is so true!!! When Michael was little I would say his name, repeatedly, and he "couldn't" hear me...but then I would drop my voice to a whisper and say 'ice-cream' and, miraculouslly, he heard that!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you find the answer let me know because we experience the same thing. It is amazing.
ReplyDeleteSounds very similar to the 'goings on' at our house!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's contagious. My teenager has it and no matter how much pounding we do on the walls downstairs to try and get her attention, if the phone rings, she is all over that!
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs ~ Kat
I think they definitely get it from the dad!
ReplyDeleteSound like my house. Only it's my hunband too:)
