The English language just has too many rules to follow.Period.
As we go along with our spelling lessons {and mind you our kids are doing really well} there are always a few hang-ups on sounds and spellings.
On the bright side, she does remember how to spell the word 'you'.
Oh how funny! And she's right, at least where I was yesterday - it was more than just humid - it was HYOUMID!

ReplyDeletei love writing, i somehow learned this language...God only knows how. a good teacher i suppose...i was homeschooled until grade six. :0) thanks mom.
but now, practicing spelling words with my kids, when a rule applies 95% of the time, but that other 5% it doesn't---ARGH!

You are right, the english language has far too many loop holes! I find her spelling much more creative!

ReplyDeleteSo cute! My four year old was writing a story the other day. It started out like this: "Wants upon a time..." LOL!
ReplyDeleteI noticed this the further in our English classes we got. The rules are always changing and there are always exceptions to those rules.
