We're just finished up our third week of school {woo hoo!!} and things are getting settled around here.Mostly.
Here's just a little look at this past week:
~ Had my pictures taken. Just me. No kids. Figured it was about time that there was documented proof that I do exist. Not only that, I wanted a picture of me that didn't involve some sort of crusty residue or food smear on my clothing. I can't wait to share some of them with you!!
~ My aunt and uncle visited with us for a few days. We haven't seen them in over 10 years, so it was great to sit down for a few minutes and reconnect.
~ They were barely here before I had to call my dad in a panic because our sewer pump alarm was going off. My dad is a trooper. A hero. A wonderful, wonderful man who will willingly stick his hands in Lord-Knows-What to retrieve a nearly burned out pump motor and discover that the reason it jammed had to do with a certain 2-year-old flushing Tupperware play cups down the toilet. {And this isn't the first time he's done it}.
~ After the great Sewer Pump Hole opening, I spent much time ridding the basement of the NASTY smell and throwing many towels out in an effort to clean the floor. {shiver}
~ Today, we're all visiting with a friend that we've talked about getting together since the SPRING, hanging out, talking about whole milk, and healthy foods....
~ I'm looking for a new devotional. I've run the circuit on several on my shelves and want to find another one...any suggestions?
That's our week in a nutshell...what have you been up to?
I don't exist according to pictures either!
ReplyDeleteHow in-depth of a devotional do you want? I just read Unlimiting God, and I believe there is a devotional of that book. It is awesome!!!!
I am impressed that you are willing to have a picture made of yourself. I avoid the camera at all costs!
ReplyDeleteAh, the joys of plumbing, sorry about your troubles this week, I can definitely empathize!
As for a devotional, anything by Priscilla Shirer is amazing. I am starting a new one this week called "Ever Loving Truth" by Vodie Bauchum (pretty sure I misspelled that). Anyway, I don't know much about it, but he is a phenomenal speaker so I am really exited about it!
You are so lucky to have a dad like that! Sometime when we're always taking the pictures there's no record of us, I've come back from a holiday before and realised that there's no evidence I was even there!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your visit to your friends.

You mean you're not the little cartoon lady in your blog header? I'm sure you've noticed that they're using that same graphic for homeschool toolbar on the Homeschool Lounge. Every time I see it I think it's your blog.

What a goob I am. I didn't even type my own blog address right.

Can't wait to see the pictures! I am sure they turned out great. gagging about the pump.. Tim has the "pleasure" of working w/ those lovely inventions all day :-P.
ReplyDeleteKudos for getting pictures taken, I'm so NOT there yet. I have to loose some poundage to feel even remotely in the mood for photos. You must post when you get them.
ReplyDeleteI love Joni Eareckson Tada's devotionals: Diamonds in the Dust, Pearls of Great Price, and one more--the name escapes me. Jesus Calling by Sarah Young is exceptional, too!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on taking time out for yourself! I love having pictures made...my friends (aka business partners) had pictures taken for our website a few months ago and had a blast taking Charlie's Angels pictures...good times..
ReplyDeleteYay for great Daddies! Don't they just rock!?
We've had sewer issues before--thankfully we rent and the landlord was the one paying for a whole new septic tank! I think I'll remember the smell forever....
ReplyDeleteSo glad that your dad was there to save the day, so to speak. This week is testing before the beginning of school to see how far we progress before the end. This way it shows both of my kids that they really did learn something with all that school time that they are putting in. Today my oldest leaves for leadership camp so not sure what our weekend will be with just the three of us.
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs ~ Kat
shudder---the thought of dealing with sewer issues creeps me out...we are lucky to be on the city sewer and not have to worry about it here. Awesome that inspite of the yuck you go to reconnect with family
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great that when we become moms, or even home owners we get to experience some of the grossest smells that you'd never imagine that you'd have to deal with!
ReplyDeleteI like to use James MacDonald's daily devotional....it also includes a reading through the Bible on a year.
Oh what a week you've had! I can relate to the sewer issues - although it's been some time ago. Shivered right along with you.
ReplyDeleteI just so happened to recommend some devotionals on my post today! I really can't say enough about The Coffee Mom's Devotional. Really. It's perfect for brief - although deeply moving - devotional times.
I've been wandering around aimlessly since sending my only child off to kindergarten.
ReplyDeleteOK. I haven't really been wandering around aimlessly. I've been avoiding all the tasks I need to do while JS is away.
Hi! I found you through Home Sanctuary.
ReplyDeleteWow, 3 weeks in school already?! Our school is only starting Sept 9th. A routine will be nice again.
That's impressive that you went for photos on your own...I should try that sometime :)
Gotta love the hero dads to the rescue! Reminds me of my dad.
I can feel that it's going to be such a joy to have children and a house someday...
ReplyDelete:)
Note to self: Have a sit-down talk with the kids about what can and can not be flushed down the toilet.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for your dad.
I'm glad you're able to spend some time with family and friends.
Hooray for dad! So nice to rescue you from something absolutely gross. My dad has rescued us from several things, including the gas leak that we had not long after buying the house. Such nice dads we have!
ReplyDeleteThe towels? I'm environmental and all, but the store sells more!
Funny you should talk of pictures of just you. Nice pictures that you are probably not yelling, "Wait! Hang on!" Or involving someone sticking fingers, noses, toes and a variety of other parts into the frame with you. I'm desperate for a decent blog photo of just MYSELF! I tried to talk Hubs into taking it this last weekend, but he was suffering from Christmas card photo fatigue and I looked like I was drun*k in each photo. Not quite the look I was going for. Argh.
Here's to hoping the Tupperware cups stay where they are supposed to.
Have a great weekend!
WOW can't wait to see the pics. I haven't had mine made in...well forever.
ReplyDeleteI can sympathize with the sewer issue! We had the same thing happen a couple of weeks ago and it was dreadful. We are very fortunate to have a friendly plumber who does early morning house calls!
ReplyDeleteGood on you for getting your own photo taken. I'm in hiding from most cameras at the moment.
When I read the part of your post about taking a picture where you didn't have anything crusty on you...it made me laugh. Guess I'm not the only one. I am barely in any pictures but when I am, I look disgusting. I often think, sheesh, my kids will never have a picture of me with a good hair day or even makeup on. You've inspired me to make a conscientious effort to be photographed more often and be sure that I'm ready for it. My kids thank you.
