"...all the references to himself were either he or him. Not once had one of his daughters called him Dad or Daddy. Not even the stuff-sounding Father. He was just a pronoun."When a young woman applies for a job in his store, sorely unqualified, Ben finds himself hiring her ~ and a journey toward restoring relationships that have been non-existent for years begins.

Sometimes a Light Surprises by Jamie Langston Turner was not at all what I expected it to be. I had a difficult time really getting into the book and relating to the characters. While the book is very well-written and the message of the book is great {it's never too late to restore relationships}, the book does not move quickly and jumps around a lot. Months pass from one chapter to the next and the reader misses out on the characters maturing and developing in a way. Overall, the story was good but it's not one that I personally would keep on my shelf to read again.
This last week I finished the first two books in the Brides of Gallatin County series by Tracie Peterson because the third one is waiting for me!
