I can't believe I'm saying - or even THINKING - that I'm enjoying diapers! But at the moment it pretty accurately pinpoints where I am in life.I am not quite ready for Kaleb to be out of diapers. There. I said it.
Think I'm crazy? Well, it is quite possible. I had every intention of jumping right in with the potty training the moment we returned from vacation.
Then we returned from vacation, I put a pair of underwear on Kaleb the next morning and he screamed. And screamed. And SCREAMED.
I caved. Put the diaper back on and frankly, I'm fine with that. Maybe it's because he's the only one that I have in diapers at this moment so there is no 'rush' to avoid having two in diapers together. Maybe it's because I am too L.A.Z.Y to push the issue {ahem}. Maybe it's because I know he will not be 18 years old and still in diapers. It will happen soon enough.
I've never pushed it with any of the others and they transitioned quite fine. So for now, I'll just sit here and wait until a certain someone decides not to be lazy about it.
Or wait until someone else suddenly finds a huge fascination with the toilet that involves something other than flushing plastic cup-like objects down it.
I haven't pushed any of mine to potty train either. I wait until they are absolutely ready and it's only taken a week or two to complete the whole process.
ReplyDeleteI must be crazy too--I've never minded changing diapers and don't mind at all that I'm about to have two in diapers either:-)!
I'm right there with you! We put Caleb on the potty and he sits fine but no action. So for now, he's fine. Like you said he won't be 18 and in diapers.
ReplyDeleteoo I hear you.. Sammy likes to sit on the potty.. but I think he just likes to be nude :-P He goes on the potty sometimes too.. but he HATES underwear! I am so not pushing him since he is only 2 and a few months..
ReplyDeleteI agree, they do it when they are ready. My oldest was almost 3 by the time she had zero accidents. My 19 month old is already starting to show some interest so its time to get out the potty!
ReplyDeleteI babysit a little girl the same ago as my daughter. The little girl was potty trained much earlier that Chloe was. In the long run it doens't make a difference. Chloe started when she was ready and I did everything I could to make it fun and exciting ONCE she was ready.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy :)
Take. Your. Time. And Kaleb's. You're so right...no dating at 18 and saying..."wait, I need to change my diaper first!" OH! That sounds awful! haa!
ReplyDeleteBut, why DO people rush potty training? It stresses me to hear about mothers who do that potty-training-in-a-weekend thing. It's not the Olympics!
At my house: Annabelle thinks the potty is too cold. So, until they make heated potty seats for persnickety little girls...
I so understand how you feel. I have four kiddos 6 and under and have had diapers in this house nonstop since 2005. My youngest will be two in October, but is already wanting to potty like her big sister. It is such a bittersweet feeling.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'll accidentally buy diapers at the store even when they are no longer needed. It is just a habit.
I am trying to keep my little one a "baby" as long as I can, but she seems to sooo want to get bigger on me.
Don't worry about it....when he is ready he will be ready!
ReplyDeleteCome by my blog I am having a hairbow giveaway....
We dealt with things as the time came. It was when our kids kept asking about the toilet and grown up underwear we knew the time had come.

I know I feel the same way about Zach.
