Today I had a big list ~ of things I didn't do. Things I could have done. Perhaps a few I should have done. But as I look around the {mildly unkempt} house, I'm realizing it's all ok.
I didn't plan any lessons for this week.
Didn't wash the floors.
Didn't turn on the computer until 10pm.
Didn't do any laundry ~ or put away any of the mounds that seem to be multiplying like rabbits every time I shut the door.
Frankly, I didn't do much of anything. I just did NOTHING of importance as far as list-ticking goes.
I did spend time worshiping with my kids. And watching them discover new ways of praising God.
I did jump around on crazy blown-up playthings and laugh at the kid's craziness.
I did fall asleep on the couch.
I did spend time with my husband.
I did read a good book.
I did nothing in general.
And that is just fine by me today.
Sounds like a wonderful day--a day spent with people instead of tasks, a day full of memories rather than "accomplishments". Days we too often fail to have in the rush to "get stuff done".
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful do nothing day! Gotta love those!!
ReplyDeletemany days i reflect similiarly at the end of the day, and i want to be so proud on the days when i 'did' so much important stuff...you know laundry, cleaning, organizing---but i realize so often that the days when the most was actually accomplished, were the days when i stopped and listened to the 3 year old's story of a bug, walked to the school to get my kids, spend ridiculous hours outside sitting in a swing while the kids dug sand castles---
ReplyDeletei think you did a lot. a lot that will make your home and life much more peaceful:0) believe me the mulitplying laundry will wait for you. the kids will not.
The BEST choices made! Those days "feel" so good at the end most times - a reminder of choosing what is best and keeping the distractions in control.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a "First things first" kind of day. Good for you! And the world just kept on spinning!
